Adding a choice to a drop-down list within a template-style workbook

I have created an Excel Workbook that is a template for another user.  Within the workbook, I have various drop-down lists.  I created these using another worksheet in the same workbook (by defining the list and then using the data validation tool). 
I want to allow users of this workbook to be able to add additional items to the drop-down lists without needing to first add to the list on the other worksheet.  Is it possible to add to these drop-down lists by typing directly into the drop-down cell (have
the information automatically populate into the list)?

To check for Windows updates. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.
