BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem

My system: ( had it since April 2011 till last month with zero problems )
I7 2600k overclocked to 4.5ghz vcore 1.355 with steady temperatures
16 GB Ram Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz 
ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME LGA 1155 Rebublic of Gamers Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 Superclocked SLI
Windows 8.1 64 
X4 Series 1050W Atx Psu
4 x 1 TB hdd 
Corsair h70 cpu cooler
Now comes the problem:
Every time I try to update my graphic cards driver I got the BSOD irql_not_less_or_equal error so that leads me to the conclusion its a video card probelm.
I got the BSOD EXACTLY THE MOMENT THE SCREEN GOES
OFF AND THEN SUPPOSED TO COME BACK ON ON THE GRAPHIC CARD DRIVER INSTALLATION.
I have done THE FOLLOWING MESURES WITH NO LUCK TO FIX THE PROBLEM YET:
1- unistalling the graphic card drivers and re installing them custom install but still getting bsod
2- removing the sli and using the graphic cards one by one and installing the graphic cards driver but still getting the bsod
3- windiwos verifier on getting BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
4- took out the overclocking and tried installing graphic card drivers still BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
5- did intelburntest windows memory diagnostic with 0 problems
Am out of ideas on what to try next please if you can help any input will be welcomed
One last thing will formating the pc and installing new windows goign to solve this problem?

• Click the Start button.
