I am running Windows Home Premium x64
I was getting this error when trying to install some software: An error occured during the installation of assembly
'Microsoft.VC90.CRT,version="9.0.21022.8",publickeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",
processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32".

I did several hours of digging, but everything I could find pertaining to this is for Vista, but this is what I managed to find:
the Trusted Installer is running with a setting of 3 (Manual) in the registery
I have renamed my SoftwareDistribution directory
I have run the Installer cleaner and painstakingly gone through the entries line by line and got rid of the old stuff that was hanging out.
I removed every dot net installation I found and then ran the Win 7 Dot Net Fix Tool and then reinstalled 3.5 SP 1
I uninstalled all Visual C++ runtime components as well. Now when trying to reinstall any of the VC++ Run Times, I am getting this erre.
I am at wits end.

Can anyone please help with this? I have seen posts like this all over the web, but no one seems to know anything. I am praying the MS does.

a) What program are you trying to install?
b) Are you running the computer as an administrator?
