Alternate windows minimizing when another is grabbed and moved (only ~20% of the time)
I'll have several windows open: Firefox, Skype, Notepad, five copies of Word, two copies of AutoCAD, and a folder.
If I'm working in one of the AutoCAD windows stop to grab and reference something from one of the Word copies, I can grab the copy of Word
I'd like using the big bar at the top (drawing a blank) and move it about the screen, but when I do, it will sometimes minimize ALL alternate windows: Skype, Firefox, etc.
Bear in mind it only does this about 20% of the time.
I've searched and searched, but I just cannot find a resolution to this.
I'd like to find a way to make it stop.
It is becoming increasingly irritating when doing work.
Thanks in advance for your help
Solutions to the Problem Alternate windows minimizing when another is grabbed and moved (only ~20% of the time)
Hi rx7ah,
It seems like the issue is caused by Windows Aero Shake feature in Windows 7.
You can use Shake to quickly minimize every open
window except the one you're shaking.
When you’re trying to drag it, it seems like you’re shaking it a little bit.
I would suggest you to disable Windows Aero and then check if the issue withers away.
To turn off Aero, you can change the existing theme to Windows 7 Basic theme.
a. Right click the Desktop
b. Click Personalize
c. Under 'Basic and High Contrast Themes, click 'Windows 7 Basic'
Hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need any further assistance.

Windows Restore

- Type "System Restore" (without quotes) in the Search box and hit Enter or,
- Click on System Restore (when you see System Restore pop up in the list of search results).
- Make sure the "Recommended restore" radio button is checked on the restore utility window.
- Click on Next and follow the instructions given.
Note: There is the option on the restore utility to select "Choose a different restore point". Unless you have a specific reason to select a different date and time than what Windows recommends, just select the recommended option stated in the steps above. If you choose to select another one, follow these steps:
Click on that desired date and time, and Windows 7 will perform a scan for any affected programs in that restore point.Once completed, click Next and follow the instructions given.
Once you have selected the restore point, your system will start the restoring process, after which you will have to restart the system.
