Cannot backup Windows 7 64bit - error code 0x80070020

Original title: backup of windows 7 64 bit issues with it not completing
hi, im having a problem under windows 7 professional 64 bit.  when I run a back up to any of my hard drives it will all most finish then get an error stating that the process can not access  the file because it is being used buy another process.
error code  0x80070020
please any help would be appreciated

·        Which security software do you use?
 
Step 1:
I would suggest you to disable the security software (anti-virus) and check whether you are able to backup.
Note: Turn on the security software once you have done testing.
 
The error message you are getting also applies to Microsoft updates in Windows7.
You may have some bad updates.
Check in Windows Update and let us know the KB number of the updates that have failed to install on the system (Status of update).

Step 2:
It might be some third party application is causing this issue.
Put the system in clean boot.Follow the steps mentioned in the article given below to configure the system in clean boot.

Note: After you have finished installing, follow step 7 in the article to boot to normal startup.

To check for Windows updates

1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.
2. In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
3. If any updates are found, click Install updates. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
